How Can Your Generosity Help?
In a perfect world, both humankind and the natural world would live in harmony, with respect, understanding, and without prejudice.
In a perfect world the concept of "conservation" would be obsolete and balance would simply exist.
Unfortunately we do not live in a perfect world, and the conservation of our natural resources has become a necessity. Perry's Bridge Reptile Park, through visual displays and exhibits, education, research, breeding, and various reptile related courses, aims to elevate the understanding and conservation of reptilian fauna, which plays a vital role in our ecology.
Our work can only be achieved with YOUR help. Through both corporate and private sponsorship, as well as adoption packages, together we can make a difference. By sponsoring an enclosure, or by adopting a specific animal, you will help generate an awareness that is deeply needed. In addition You will have the knowledge and satisfaction that you will now be contributing towards something that is far greater than us all.....the preservation of life.
It was astronaut Edgar Mitchell who said:
"...suddenly, from behind the rim of the moon, in long, slow motion moments of immense majesty, there emerges a sparkling blue and white jewel, a light delicate sky-blue sphere laced with slowly swirling veils of white, rising gradually like a small pearl in a thick sea of black mystery. It takes more than a moment to fully realise this is earth....home!"
By supporting the "adopting an animal" project you will be ensuring the lifelong commitment we have made into the preservation of reptiles as well as assisting us with current projects.
Reptile Removal and Relocation program
We recieve countless calls to remove"problem reptiles".
This is a free service which is offered to the community. We encourage the public to make use of this service to reduce the possibilty of snakebite incidents.
This program:
* Reduces the amount of snakebites.
* Serves as a valuable eductaion tool.
* Provides valuable data for research.
* Ensures the safe relocation of the animal.
Research and Data collection
Prior to relocation valuable data is collected:
* GPS co-ordinates are taken of the capture and release sites.
* All animals are weighed, measured, and sexed prior to release.
* Environmental conditions such as temperature, time of day, humidity are also noted at time of capture.
* If needed, a DNA sample may also be taken prior to release.
This information will be available for any research projects.
Community Access
Our primary aim is education. For this reason we endeavour to keep entrance fees to the park low, and as a result we are the most affordable family activity in our area. This gives people from all walks of life the opportunity to experience our informative demonstrations and gain valuable insight as to why the conservation of reptiles is important. We also offer subsidised rates for school groups.
Future Projects
When it comes to conservation and education, "too much" is never enough. We would like to develop the park further.
Future projects include:
* Info centre and museum.
* Spider and scorpion exhibits.
* Lizards and geckos exhibits.
* An endangered species breeding facility.
Snake Talks
Due to scheduled itineraries, transport logistics and other factors it is impossible for everyone to visit the park. However in order to convey the message of conservation it is important to reach as many people as possible. We offer talks and courses at various locations that suit the individual needs of specific groups. Once again these talks are offered at reduced rates to ensure that the conservation ideal is passed on to as many people as possible.
This Website
To extend our commitment towards conservation and education we have created this website dedicated to bringing the ultimate snake and reptile resource to your fingertips.
