Naturalistic exhibits at Perrys Bridge Reptile Park
Our aim was to create our exhibits to mimic as natural an environment as possible for our species. This was done not only to increase your viewing pleasure, but primarily to enrich the quality of life of our species. Each individual display has been designed and built to suit each species specific needs. Wherever possible we have tried to use natural resources such as plants, rocks, and wood rather than the artificial alternatives more commonly seen. We do realise however, that despite our best efforts, it is impossible to recreate nature within a closed captive environment.
Main Snake Exhibit
This is where the majority of our snakes can be seen on display. The building consists of 42 enclosures of varying sizes. This is where you will find some of our better known species such as Green Mambas, Forest Cobras, Diamondback rattlesnakes, and some lesser known species such as Cape File snake and Red-Spitting cobras.
Each display is clearly labelled with relevant information of each species. Information includes whether the species is venomous or not, their distribution, habitat preference, diet, biology, as well as some of their unique habits. This was done with you, the visitor, in mind. By reading the information provided you will gain valuable insight into the lives of these wonderful creatures with which we share our world.
Python Exhibit
The python display consists of eight large enclosures. Here you can observe species such as Boa constrictors, Jungle carpet pythons as
well as Anacondas and Southern Africa's very own large snake, the African Rock Python. Each enclosure has its own waterfall and unique decor. Giant snakes have enthralled the world, having been made famous by movies and myth alike. Here you can find out the truth about these amazing, ancient giants.
Frog Exhibit
Our frog display is my wife's favourite. These adorable creatures have been both revered and reviled across the globe. Today they are facing
one of the world's greatest extinction crisis with half of all species being threatened due to environmental change. Our White's Tree Frogs, and Bumble-bee Poison Dart Frog as well as our own Painted Reed Frogs will have you wanting to hug these awesome creatures. Perhaps some of you may even want to kiss one.....who knows?

Lizard and Tortoise Exhibits
A variety of Lizards can be seen here at the park. This includes Africa's very own Nile monitor and the aptly named "Jesus lizard"
or Green Basilisk which can run on water. You can also meet "Malkovich", our Green Iguana(so named becuase he reminds me of John Malkovich). Our lizards and tortoises are displayed in a variety of different enclosures. Some are similar to the pythons, whilst others are open-air exhibits. Here be Dragons....
Crocodile And Alligator Ponds
Prepare to be amazed by the massive size of our male Nile Crocodile"Oom Len" and his sweetheart "Princess". Our Nile Crocodile
and Alligator displays give you the unique opportunity to get up close to these imposing predators. Crocodilians worlwide are under increasing pressure due to encroachment of our riverine systems. The Chinese Alligator is almost extinct in the wild. Yet our current understanding of their role in the ecosystem is only just begining to shed light on their importance. "Oom Len" is extremely valuable to science due to the presence of a specific parasite in his blood.
